Often when people start their fitness journey they think they need to completely cut out everything until they reach their goal, then finding 4-8 weeks down the line they are no longer able to adhere, or long term they feel the need to over indulge on the food they cut out every time they are around it or have it in the house.

Only having foods on a certain day will create that rule that will make you feel guilty if you have it on any other day or time which if you feel guilty can lead to over restriction then overeating then giving up all together.

Learning to include these foods into your week on top of well balanced eating of fruits, vegetables, carbs, protein and fats will help take the guilt away from these foods as well as learning to give trust in yourself to make the right choice for you in this time.

You may think that including these foods will make you over indulge on them or that you are unable to control yourself around these foods this will be the exact reason as to why you need to include them. This takes away the novelty or fear away from these foods allowing yourself to gain trust with eating them.

2 Tips to start including these foods into your day:

  • Have them at a time that you are already satisfied from your meal
  • Have it at a time where you have no distractions

Learn to be compassionate with yourself as well as honest with yourself. Are you really craving this certain food right now or is there something else you desire instead?

For long term change you want to be able to include the foods you enjoy without overthinking it giving yourself the choice and ability to maintain results long term
