You feel as though you are doing all the stretching on that tight lower back and no matter what you do it just feels stiff and uncomfortable. You put massage guns on your tight shoulder blade and get massage therapists to massage the crap out of the tight spot you just can't loosen.
Here is why:
The tight spot you are feeling is usually the solution, tight areas are where the muscle is over worked due to lagging muscles or restricted joint movement around
What to do instead?
Instead of aggravating that same spot more, release and strengthen the muscles around to allow them to provide more support to take off that loaded area.
For example: A lot of the time people struggle with neck pain, due to never putting ourselves into the opposite position, we rarely look up any more or fully side to side. As well as a stressed lifestyle so our shoulders come up towards our ears.
So working to incorporate exercises such as looking up, rotating through the upper back, strengthening our lower mid back with rows and learning how to move our shoulder blades properly can help take the load off the strained area
I get it feels good to push on that tight spot but more often that not it makes things worse or prolongs recovery. Instead work around it allow it to rest and work on regaining and restoring movement in restricted areas
